5 Ideas for Pumpkin Decorations

5 Ideas for Pumpkin Decorations

29th Oct 2019

It’s officially autumn, and now we’re just a few days away from Halloween. In our previous blog, we looked at essential tips for taking care of your flowers this fall. In celebration of our Country Pumpkin flower arrangement, we wanted to take a look at some fun ideas for pumpkin decorations this fall. Of course, with Halloween on the horizon, you will want to get those jack-o’-lanterns carved up. However, there are so many other ideas for incorporating pumpkins into your fall decorations this season.

Be sure to check out our Autumn Flower collection for all sorts of beautiful decoration ideas. And swing by Chappell’s Florist for the best flower shop in Burlington. Now, let’s look at some pumpkins!

1. Glow in the Dark Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins for Halloween is a beloved tradition. And, of course, there is no shortage of pumpkin carving ideas. There is an endless variety of ways to carve a pumpkin, from classic jack-o’-lantern to silhouettes of celebrities and beloved TV characters. But, you don’t have to carve a pumpkin to have fun with it. There are so many no-carve pumpkin decorating ideas out there.

One of our favorite no-carve ideas involves a little bit of paint. Specifically, glow in the dark paint. Once you get your hands on some glow in the dark paint, then you can take your gourd to the next level. It will look good during the day and then light up at night. This is great for Halloween, naturally, but like all of our pumpkin decorating ideas in today’s blog, it’s also good throughout the entire fall season.

2. Mini Pumpkin Planters

Pumpkins and other gourds are so versatile. That’s one of the things that make them such great options for decorating. Because pumpkins come in such a range of sizes and shapes — and because they can be hollowed out — they make for great planters.

All you have to do is find the perfect size for your planter. You can then hollow it out and hang them with some decorative hemp rope. They go great to welcome guests outside your door or to hang above your sink. Then all you have to do is treat them like any other planter. Fill them up with the perfect small plant. Succulents are great choices. Or get some vibrancy in your planters with an Autumn Magic wrap from our Burlington flower shop.

3. Galaxy Pumpkins

This one is a bit more in-depth, but the payoff is worth it! You can fit the galaxy itself in your home with this fun and beautiful decoration. It works best with an artificial pumpkin, but it can be done with a real one as well.

Basically, what you need to do is paint your pumpkin black, drill holes into it to mimic the night sky (you can go with your favorite constellation!), and then light it up from the inside. This will make your pumpkin look like a starry night. You can get the full directions for this project from Better Homes & Gardens.

4. Yarn Pumpkins

Better Homes & Gardens also has a great idea for bringing together two fall staples — pumpkins and yarn. These yarn-decorated pumpkins add whimsy and color to your home. They involve wrapping your pumpkins in various kinds of yarn with a hot glue gun.

There are so many ways to decorate a pumpkin with yarn. You really can’t go wrong. This is the perfect opportunity to get creative. You can even turn your pumpkin into a unicorn!

5. Flowers and Pumpkins

Finally, if you want to make sure that your pumpkin decorations will make an impression, then be sure to complement it with all sorts of flowers. The Country Pumpkin arrangement can act as inspiration for you as you shop for you favorite flowers from your Burlington shower shop.

In the end, you can’t go wrong with pumpkins and flowers. Be sure to stay tuned for future blog posts full of great ideas, tips, and tricks for every season. We have flowers for anytime of the year.
