July Birth Month Flowers and Their Significance

Posted by Chappell's Florist on 1st Jul 2021

Way before technology, there were other ways people communicated with their friends and loved ones. One of those ways was through flowers. The language of flowers was quite popular hundreds of years ago and even though the world has developed since then, flowers remain a vital way to connect with your loved ones.

You can always send flowers to your friends and family on any occasion, whether it is their birthdays or you are celebrating an anniversary. Did you know that each birth month has a flower with its unique meaning? Getting your loved ones flowers for their birth month can make them feel special.

Today we will be talking about the July birth flowers and their meaning. So, if you have a loved one whose birthday is coming this July, you can always add these flowers as part of their gifts and make them feel loved.

July's birth flowers are larkspur and water lily. Contact Chappell’s Florist in Burlington to find the perfect gift for that special someone in your life!

Larkspur

The name Larkspur came from the Tudors. This was due to the bloom's similarity to a lark's spur. According to the Greeks, this flower bloomed where the blood of ajax was spilled in the battle of Troy.

In England, people believed that they could protect themselves from ghosts and magic by sprinkling the larkspur in their bathwater. They are known as a protective plant to repel poisonous snakes and cure scorpion stings.

The larkspur comes in a spectrum of colors from purple, indigo, pink, white, and much more. The pink represents fickleness, white for happiness, blue for dignity and grace, and purple for first love.

The larkspur generally symbolizes strong love, positivity, and an open heart.

Water Lily

This is the second July birth flower. Water lilies are lotus-like flowers. They symbolize rebirth, purity, and enlightenment. It's common to find these flowers floating on top of water within May and early September.
